In an Australian exclusive, Gladiators: Heroes of the Colosseum is an international touring exhibition that will only be appearing at Queensland Museum.The exhibition features more than 120 artefacts, interactive games and displays to reveal who gladiators were, where they lived and how they trained.View archaeological treasures, including actual pieces of the Colosseum, elaborately decorated bronze gladiator helmets and original arms and armour preserved in the ashes of Pompeii. Learn the story of these armed athletes who fought to entertain and inspire the people of Ancient Rome.The exhibition will explore four themes: Origin and development of gladiatorial games; Gladiators; the Colosseum and the amphitheatre of the Roman Empire; and One day in the Arena. Gladiators: Heroes of the Colosseum is produced by Expona and Contemporanea Progetti and features artefacts from seven Italian museums and institutions.TicketsGladiators is a timed ticketed experience. The exhibition is open daily from 9.40am to 5pm. Entry times commence at 9.40am daily, then at 20 minute intervals through to the last enty at 4pm. Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled ticket entry time. For example if your ticket time is 10am please arrive at the museum no later than 9.50am.
Why is entry timed?Entry is timed so that we can manage the flow of visitors through the exhibition, once inside you’re welcome to stay as long as you like. Please note there are no pass outs from the exhibition.We recommend planning your trip to the museum with plenty of time to find parking and allowing for possible delays on public transport.
