Welcome to the heart of the Silk Road.

Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul showcases some of the most remarkable archaeological finds in all of Central Asia and provides a glimpse into the world of the ancient Silk Road.
 
Featuring almost 230 priceless objects from between 2200 BC and AD 200, this exhibition showcases sculptures, jewellery and gold work of extraordinary beauty and significance.

• This is a timed ticketed event. You must attend the session time you have booked for. Tickets cannot be refunded or exchanged.
• Please arrive 10 minutes before your session time. Late entries may not be able to be accommodated.
• Please allow additional time if parking at the Museum on weekends, public holidays or school holidays.
• The exhibition is recommended for children 8 years and above.
• Prams, large bags and food & drink (including bottled water) cannot be taken in to the exhibition. These may be checked free of charge at the Museum Cloak Room on Level 2.

Groups

Groups consist of 10 or more paying visitors and can be made up of both children and adults. Children’s groups must be accompanied by 1 adult for every 10 children.

Benefits offered to groups include; discounted ticket prices for adults and children (3 – 15 years), one free adult with every group and meal packages (see Group Booking form for options).

Publication
A publication about the exhibition is available for purchase at the time of booking. Pre-purchased publications can be collected from the Museum Shop on Level 2, Queensland Museum. Please provide your receipt at time of collection.

Australia Day 2014

South Bank Parklands will be the site of an array of Australia Day Celebrations on Friday 24 and Sunday 26 January. Large crowds are expected and may affect traffic, access and parking around Qld Museum and QPAC.

Lane closures in Stanley Street (in the Cultural Centre tunnel) on Friday 24 January between 1pm and 3pm will restrict access to the Qld Museum and Performing Arts car park. The car park can only be accessed via Melbourne Street or Russell Street during this time.

The Performing Arts car park will be closed on Sunday 26 January until 2pm and Russell Street will be closed all day.

Please note the following activities may impact your visit on Sunday 26 January:
- Until 2pm Performing Arts car park is closed and no pre-paid parking is available
- 7.30am-8.30pm Set down for patrons with mobility difficulties is only available on Grey Street (see map below)
- 7.30am-8.30pm Russell Street is closed - access Cultural Centre car parks via Melbourne Street or Stanley Street
- 11.15am-12.15pm Flag raising ceremony including RAAF fly past and 21 gun salute, Cultural Forecourt, South Bank
- 7.30pm Fireworks may be audible during evening performances

Given that the large crowds are likely to affect traffic and parking around Qld Museum and QPAC, we recommend you consider taking public transport to your performance.
